THE FOLLOWING SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS:
Educational Testing
Educational testing may identify strengths and weaknesses which need to be addressed in the educational setting. The center offers educational testing that assists teachers and support staff as they develop an educational plan for your child. Fees from $100 – $500.
Academic Coaching/Study Skills
Held during the academic day as an alternative elective class utilizing academic course assignments, students are taught study habits, organizational, and executive functioning skills that are necessary to maintain the high academic expectations of the Academy in a very small class setting.
This is available for Upper School only at $1,700/Semester.
Individualized Reading Programs
Our staff of dedicated educators will tailor a reading program to meet the specific needs of your child. Lindamood-Bell® programs and multi-sensory methods are integrated with other proven reading improvement strategies to develop an individualized reading program. Initial Evaluation $100, 90 min./week $100, Additional Sessions $55/hour.
Subject-Specific Tutoring
One-to-One Tutoring – Students in need of tutoring in a specific academic subject area will be paired with a tutor with expertise in that area. The tutoring will occur after the academic day is completed. $65/hour.
Peer Tutoring – Students often just need a study buddy or assistance with note taking or lecture review. The peer-tutoring program offers students the opportunity to buddy up with someone from the same class or someone who has excelled in the subject area to assist the student as they master subject content.
Reading Specialist
A full-time reading specialist is available to all students in the Lower School. A 2014 study by the American Academy of Pediatrics revealed that reading daily to young people can help with language acquisition and literacy skills. The study also discovered that more than one in three American children start kindergarten without the skills they need to learn to read. Therefore, Farragut strives to be proactive by incorporating programs through the Center for Academic Success to bring all of its students up to a level that instills confidence.
Weekly Project Planning
Upper School students may receive (no-charge) guidance once a week for planning the upcoming week’s study time to maximize results and ensure projects and assignments are completed accurately and on time.
