Students are taught the skills to use their learning strengths and styles to become successful and confident lifelong learners. In this incredible space they have the opportunity to collaborate, read, study, and grow.
Resources for Our Students
The Student Center serves our student body from Kindergarten to 12th grade. It houses over 8,000 print, multimedia, and eBook resources. Technology is integrated using Chromebooks, Apple computers, computer stations and collaborative spaces equipped with Smart TVs and white boards. Students and faculty currently have access to over 20 research databases, Grammarly, newspaper sources, and magazines.
The Roy M. Speer Student Center was remodeled in August of 2014 to provide a welcoming and information-rich physical and online environment. It is a hub of activity offering academic and library services, collaborative and social areas, along with individual study rooms and a computer lab.
Student Center Hours
Monday – Thursday from 7:30am – 5:30pm and Fridays from 7:30am to 4:30pm. When the school is closed for holidays or half days, the Student Center is also closed.
Weeknight Study Hall for Boarders
All boarding students are required to attend evening study hall unless they are away because of a sporting event or have permission to be elsewhere. Study hall is Sunday-Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. If a student has failing grades, they will be placed in mandatory study hall located in the Student Center. Students may study in their dorm room at their desk, in the Cadet Union (also known as Calvin’s Lounge), a teacher’s classroom, or in the Student Center.
