Evening Details
Come celebrate this National Hero with a special evening including cocktails, dinner, and entertainment to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Charlie Duke’s walking on the moon.
The Master of Ceremonies for this special evening is Nicole Stott: retired NASA astronaut, author of the newly released book Back To Earth: What Life in Space Taught Me About Our Home Planet-And Our Mission to Protect It, and close friend of Mr. Duke’s. Stott was the CAPCOM for the ISS Expedition 10 crew, is an aquanaut, and flew two spaceflights. She spent 104 days on the International Space Station and was on the final flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery. Highlights from her spaceflights include performing a spacewalk (10th woman to do so), painting the first watercolor in space, and the life-changing view of our home planet. She is a co-founder of the Space for Art Foundation – uniting a planetary community of children through the awe and wonder of spaceflight and the healing power of art. Nicole and her husband Chris are proud parents to son Roman who is a 2021 Admiral Farragut graduate.

What makes Admiral Farragut Academy special?
Admiral Farragut Academy is a college-prep, private school located in St. Petersburg, Florida which serves girls and boys in PreK-12th grade. Our Upper School, which starts in 8th grade, is also known worldwide for its Boarding program and Naval Science program. The school’s mission is to provide a college preparatory environment that promotes academic excellence, leadership skills, and social development within a diverse community of young men and women. With two graduates who have walked on the moon and course offerings from scuba to aviation, Farragut is proud to offer students the opportunities unlike anywhere else. As a diverse community with students coming from 30 countries, 17 U.S. states, and various cultural backgrounds, Farragut provides financial assistance for deserving and qualified families.
“You’re learning to work as a team here at Farragut, and that’s exactly what we had at NASA. Keep in mind when I graduated from Farragut people did not know what an astronaut was, it was not something you prepared for, but Farragut prepared me for life. I am so thankful to my parents for making the sacrifice for me to go to Farragut. It prepared me for the Naval Academy and for life after it.” – Charles Duke ’53S
