Cross Country Recap
Girls Varsity had a full team for the first time in many years and was led by senior Abby Fiorillo. Freshman Julia Mularoni finished her debut year with a new school record for the 5K. She placed an impressive 7th in the district and 14th in the regional meets.
The new runners on the Boys JV team are improving. They will no doubt benefit next year from a Boys Varsity team that defines exemplary teamwork. The team’s top five runners were closely matched with an ongoing exchange of wins at the meets. Their consistent pushing of one another at practices and races resulted in improved results. These strong motivation methods earned them 3rd place in the district meet and 10th in the regional.
While the program will lose senior Matthew Borrilli on the Boys Varsity team, we’re looking forward to next year with so much returning talent.
Golf Season Recap
The Farragut Golf team had another fun and exciting season! The young BlueJacket squad improved tremendously throughout the season and above all, enjoyed the process. Multiple players shot their career-low rounds including Roxy Riles, Jakub Vlasak, Cade Griffith, Josiah Smith, and Alexander Grimaldi. The Boys Golf team placed 10th at Districts with Jakub Vlasak battling back after a rough start narrowly missing out on Regionals by just two shots. Jakub placed 14th out of 55 players after shooting 88. Roxy Riles placed 7th out of 33 girls to match her career low of 89. The future is bright for the Farragut golf program as they will return 8 players for the 2021 season!
Volleyball Season Recap
The Varsity Volleyball team had one of its best seasons in the past couple of years. With a record of 7-8, they were so close to reaching their goal of .500 for the season. Not to mention having a brand new coach, Kasey Morris, the Varsity team had to learn to set up/tear down with masks on, settle for only immediate family members at games, and no longer shake hands to encourage or congratulate their opponents. With all the new and weird things that this 2020 season threw at them, the varsity volleyball team was able to come together more than ever and build a special bond on and off the court. With a special thank you to our senior student-athletes — Ella Sokolowski, Casey McKee, Sylvia Deitche, Devyn Barrett, Turiya Moka, and team manager Trent McCauley— they will be truly missed but have left a legacy for the girls following after them to continue on in the years to come! The Farragut Varsity Volleyball team has heart, and we can’t wait to see where their love for the game takes them as we move into the offseason to prepare for next year!
Varsity Swimming and Diving Recap
The 2020 swim and dive season presented numerous challenges due to the pandemic, but that didn’t stop the Farragut swimmers and divers from reaching new heights and reemerging as one of the premier programs in the area. The team capped off an undefeated regular season schedule with 15 swimmers and divers qualifying for the Regional Meet. 10 swimmers and divers went on to represent Farragut at the Florida High School Athletic Association State Championship in Stuart, FL. The Girls Relay Team led by Ansley Fine, Aletheia Venator, Sophia Raymer, and Claire Cramer qualified for States in two events the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay.
The Boys 200 Free Relay Team led by Ben Crawford, Dylan Rice, Dobromir Sokolowski, and Eddie Gaines broke the school record at Regionals and then again at States. Claire Cramer was one of only a few 7th graders in Florida that qualified for the State Championship in the 200 Free.
Evan Rockefeller had an outstanding year in diving, placing 1st at the City Championship and becoming the District 5 Champion. Evan continued his accolades earning the 1A Region 2 Runner Up and placing 6th at States. Hard work does pay off and the Farragut swimmers/divers used every opportunity to show what perseverance can produce.
